Pam Allyn with new friends from The Literacy Connection 10/14/17
The members of The Literacy Connection strive to build a community of scholar-teachers who support, share, publish, and disseminate professional information and engage cooperatively in workshops, curriculum development, evaluation and research activities. We also seek to foster educationally sound practices among teachers, parents, policy makers, and others who are involved and interested in literacy matters.
The Literacy Connection has authored Reading and Writing, Where It All Begins: Helping Your Children at Home, first published in 1991 and revised in 2004. A Spanish version has also been published. Proceeds from the sale of the booklet support professional development workshops. Information on how to purchase the booklets is on the publications page of this website.
The Literacy Connection (TLC) is a non-profit teacher support group founded in 1982 by five teachers. The membership includes teachers, administrators, parents, and others concerned with literacy education. Each year TLC presents professional development opportunities for Central Ohio educators. We invite celebrated educational authors, who have championed literacy practices, to share work, their thoughts and their hopes for teaching and learning in today's classrooms. Speakers through the years have included, among others: Kate Roberts, Christopher Lehman, Jennifer Serravallo, Ruth Ayres, Debbie Miller, Ralph Fletcher, Georgia Heard, Stephanie Harvey, Cris Tovani, Donalyn Miller, Kelly Gallagher, Carl Anderson, Katie Wood Ray, and Lester Laminack.
Dues of $15 per year includes membership with email notifications about upcoming events.
